Strategies to prevent heart disease

My heart doesn’t beat well this morning. So I google searched for healthy advices. The article is from https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/heart-disease/in-depth/heart-disease-prevention/art-20046502. If it causes copyright infringement, please let me know and I will remove accordingly.

2. Get moving: Aim for at least 30 to 60 minutes of activity daily

Regular, daily physical activity can lower the risk of heart disease. Physical activity helps control your weight. It also reduces the chances of developing other conditions that may put a strain on the heart, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.

If you haven’t been active for a while, you may need to slowly work your way up to these goals, but in general, you should do aim for at least:

  • 150 minutes a week of moderate aerobic exercise, such as walking at a brisk pace
  • 75 minutes a week of vigorous aerobic activity, such as running
  • Two or more strength training sessions a week

Even shorter bouts of activity offer heart benefits, so if you can’t meet those guidelines, don’t give up. Just five minutes of moving can help, and activities such as gardening, housekeeping, taking the stairs and walking the dog all count toward your total. You don’t have to exercise strenuously to achieve benefits, but you can see bigger benefits by increasing the intensity, duration and frequency of your workouts.

3. Eat a heart-healthy diet

A healthy diet can help protect the heart, improve blood pressure and cholesterol, and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. A heart-healthy eating plan includes:

  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Beans or other legumes
  • Lean meats and fish
  • Low-fat or fat-free dairy foods
  • Whole grains
  • Healthy fats, such as olive oil

Two examples of heart-healthy food plans include the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) eating plan and the Mediterranean diet.

Limit intake of the following:

  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • Processed carbohydrates
  • Alcohol
  • Saturated fat (found in red meat and full-fat dairy products) and trans fat (found in fried fast food, chips, baked goods)
5. Get good quality sleep

People who don’t get enough sleep have a higher risk of obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, diabetes and depression.

Most adults need at least seven hours of sleep each night. Make sleep a priority in your life. Set a sleep schedule and stick to it by going to bed and waking up at the same times each day. Keep your bedroom dark and quiet, so it’s easier to sleep.

If you feel like you’ve been getting enough sleep but you’re still tired throughout the day, ask your health care provider if you need to be evaluated for obstructive sleep apnea, a condition that can increase your risk of heart disease. Signs of obstructive sleep apnea include loud snoring, stopping breathing for short times during sleep and waking up gasping for air. Treatments for obstructive sleep apnea may include losing weight if you’re overweight or using a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device that keeps your airway open while you sleep.

6. Manage stress

Some people cope with stress in unhealthy ways — such as overeating, drinking or smoking. Finding alternative ways to manage stress — such as physical activity, relaxation exercises or meditation — can help improve your health.

7. Get regular health screenings

High blood pressure and high cholesterol can damage the heart and blood vessels. But without testing for them, you probably won’t know whether you have these conditions. Regular screening can tell you what your numbers are and whether you need to take action.

  • Blood pressure. Regular blood pressure screenings usually start in childhood. Starting at age 18, blood pressure should be measured at least once every two years to screen for high blood pressure as a risk factor for heart disease and stroke.

    If you’re between 18 and 39 and have risk factors for high blood pressure, you’ll likely be screened once a year. People age 40 and older also are given a blood pressure test yearly.

  • Cholesterol levels. Adults generally have their cholesterol measured at least once every four to six years. Cholesterol screening usually starts at age 20, though earlier testing may be recommended if you have other risk factors, such as a family history of early-onset heart disease.
  • Type 2 diabetes screening. Diabetes is a risk factor for heart disease. If you have risk factors for diabetes, such as being overweight or having a family history of diabetes, your health care provider may recommend early screening. If not, screening is recommended beginning at age 45, with retesting every three years.

If you have a condition such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes, your health care provider may prescribe medications and recommend lifestyle changes. Make sure to take your medications as your health care provider prescribes and follow a healthy-lifestyle plan.

It doesn’t matter if one face challenges or doubts himself in his 20s or 30s. It only causes severe problem if one does that in his 50s, when he loses all the formability. Formability means to undergo plastic deformation without being damaged. Like in material science, pain provides incentives to change, and formability provides potential to stand with it.

the essence of study

The essence of study is to learn from the prototype of the subject. For example, if you learn coding, you learn from the v0.01 version of the code base. If you learn empirical study, you have to know the in-depth theory why it is done in this way. If you learn set theory, you learn the traditional one and what changes has Von Neumann made to sew up the gap of foundations of mathematics. Everything gets more complicated and obscure as it evolves and if you don’t know what it is like in its origin, you will never know how it evolved, what adjustment has it made and why it became what it looks like for now. The reason why it be itself lies on the trace of updates. Nearly everything, every knowledge has the instructions out there. The difference is that it is explicit for books while implicit for other crafts. You have to find the hidden trace of the introductions from various materials.

Bug in windows version of Stata

There is a bug in stata, that the end-of-line (EOL) symbol does not separate the comment symbol and combinations such as “/*” or “\*” end a comment and run the next executable line in comment unexpectedly. For example, code with comment:

* comment here

* also see D:\folder1\subfolder2\

* some executable code in stata[unexpected execution]

* some executable code in stata[will not be executed since with a new asterisks]

This would cause line 3 of the code to run without any awareness. The reason is that * and \ constitutes the end of comment symbol “\*”, which stops the comment even there is no “\*” to begin the comment in the upper section.

The issue is not solved up to now till Stata 17. Users must pay attention to any executable code in comment usage. I found  a way to avoid comment execution, just add the snippet “[Avoid_execution]” at the end of possible executed code in the comment section. For example, here is our comment section:

/*

* This file is located in D:\project1\folder2\subfolder3\

* code executable #1

* code executable  #2

*/

Here, code executable #1 gets executed though it is in the comment section. It is because the previous line backslash “\” and the code #1 line * forms the end of a comment “\*“. To avoid that case, we add the snippet “[Avoid_execution]” at the end of executable lines, which becomes:

/*

* This file is located in D:\project1\folder2\subfolder3\

* code executable #1 [Avoid_execution]

* code executable  #2 [Avoid_execution]

*/

Then nothing gets executed. If it does, at least the user will be notified with an error in the terminal.

Maybe the issue exists for various EOL(end of line) symbols across OSs. The MS-DOS and MS windows systems marks CR(Carriage Return) LF(Line feed) “\r\n”( 0x0D (13 decimal) and 0x0A (10 decimal) ) as a end line, while Linux (and c programming language) only accepts LF(Line feed) “\n” and Mac OS only accepts CR(Carriage Return) “\r”. Stata supports all these 3 platforms and the designers of Stata decide to settle the difference via ignoring the entire EOL symbol. That’s where the bug comes from.

SOPs of using eye ointment

hmmm。

SOPs(Standard Operation Procedures) of using eye ointment

直接cap the eye ointment, avoid touching the tip of the tube,如果有残留在tube上,直接盖上,而不要用纸巾擦拭剩下的药膏,以防沾上细菌。

PS1:The eye ointment should be discarded in 4 weeks after opening.

PS2:Contact lenses should be removed before using eye ointment.

眼睛就不说了,就牙齿来说,if the gum of teeth recedes, it will never come back.
